Bioinformatics interest group (BIG) is organising a GIT workshop (a type of version control system), on Tuesday, 10th of December, at 14:00 (room VKL 5.1.31). The workshop is planned to take approximately 2 hours and will be run by Nicholas Strieder.
Prerequisites for joining the workshop are basic knowledge of UNIX and bringing your own laptop that has an UNIX based OS installed (Linux, MacOS). Windows 10 should also work, but you should have Linux Bash Shell already set up on it. Anyone can join the workshop, PhD students, BIG members, postdocs, professors etc..
What is a version control system, why should I care? A version control system is a database that holds multiple revisions of a project. It's used mainly in programming/informatics projects, but it's also very useful in manuscript or thesis writing.
