RIGeL Summer School

Registration: expired

>> Program RIGeL Summer School, October 13-15, 2016, Nürnberg

This year all RIGeL sections will have joint Summer Schools, including PhD students of BIOMEDIGS (Biomedical International Graduate School of the University Hospital). These should increase the interaction between the sections and will help you to meet new people and get insight to new scientific areas. Due to the large number of participants, we organize two Summer Schools. The first Summer School will take place from June 30 to July 2, 2016 in the monastery of Weltenburg (www.kloster-weltenburg.de). The second Summer School will take place from October 13 to 15, 2016 in the Jugendherberge Nürnberg (www.jugendherberge.de/de-de/jugendherbergen/nuernberg253/portraet).

In these Summer Schools you will have the opportunity to get an overview of the different groups of the CBB, Biomedicine, Neurobiology and MEE sections, exchange data and get new inputs and ideas for your projects. Moreover, in a relaxed environment you can practice to present your data, to review others and to chair a scientific session. Thus, besides the presentation of your projects you will be given the opportunity to be chairpersons of scientific sessions. The chairpersons will be drawn by lot among all participants. Besides from scientific exchange participants will get to know each other more personally.

In order to improve our capacity of teamwork as well as our personal skills, different events will be offered additionally to the scientific program on the first day of both Summer Schools. A team-building event with outdoor activities will take place on June 30, 2016 whereas on October 13, 2016 two soft skill courses will be offered for participants of the Summer School. Both team-building event and soft skill courses will take place at the event venue. A bus transfer will be organized for both Summer Schools. The course descriptions you can find attached. Please note that even participants of the Summer Schools who do not want to attend the team building event or the soft skill courses have to arrive at the Summer School venue at latest in the afternoon on the first day. The use of private vehicles cannot be reimbursed!

We highly recommend taking the chance and participating in this year's Summer Schools and to profit in multiple ways.

Please remember that every PhD student has to participate actively in two RIGeL Summer Schools (1x poster, 1x talk) during her/his PhD in order to get the required RIGeL credit points. However, all students are welcome to join the Summer School even if they have already fulfilled this requirement for credit points or if they are at the beginning of their PhD! New PhD students have the possibility to present their research plan by a poster!

The registration period for both Summer Schools is from April 4 to 17, 2016. The registration for the October Summer School will be open longer if there are free places left. During the registration you can choose, in which Summer School you want to participate. Each section has a limited contingent of places according to the size of the section. The registration is on a first come, first served basis. Please send your abstract (max. 1500 characters in a Word file!) for poster and talk (talk: 15 min + 5 min discussion) until May 31, 2016 for July Summer School and until August 31, 2016 for October Summer School to Rigel.Summerschool@ur.de. Please consider for the preparation of your presentations that Summer School participants are from different sections. Please keep the content of your presentation general so that everybody can follow.
